Milena Hutchings

Founder & CEO

Milena originally trained in building construction, architecture, and design, and began her career in commercial real estate and then interior design. Her journey is now focussed on wellness, inspired by personal experience and a drive to transform the way people care for their bodies and minds. She founded GoFitt, a modern supplement brand offering clean, high-performance daily formulas. This evolved into a broader platform for wellness innovation — leading to the creation of MilaK, a biotech initiative supported by Innovate UK. Milena’s mission is to build a future where wellness is clean, effective, and radically inclusive — and where biotech empowers both human health and environmental responsibility.

Chris Carter

Fermentation and Scale Up CTO

Chris brings over 25 years of experience in fermentation science, upstream process development, and large-scale biomanufacturing across diagnostics and pharmaceutical environments. His background spans precision fermentation, technical transfer, and scale-up to 5,000L systems – experience that will be instrumental as MilaK advances its precision-fermented human lactoferrin platform toward food-grade manufacturing and translational validation.

Edward Hutchings

Cambridge Medical Research / Advisory

Ed is a senior research analyst, with a background in natural sciences and medicine and currently a PhD candidate at the University of Cambridge. At MilaK, he plays a key role in shaping both the scientific direction and strategic growth of the company, advancing our precision fermentation platform and strengthening partnerships and investor relations.

Life Sciences & Capital / Advisory

David is an experienced business operator, with a background in real estate, research, investment advisory and financial analysis. He has worked with companies of all sizes, in the UK and internationally. He is currently working with a top-tier real estate services firm to advice their clients on investment strategy, is on the board of a European real estate start-up and is also involved with the funding of start-ups in the clean-tech and healthcare sectors.
